29 Hibiscus Sketch

Diane Mannion, 29 Hibiscus Sketch, 8x10" o/c

Worked this study from a snapshot taken at the Punta Gorda History Park this morning.  Wanted it to stay loose and unfinished... like a lot about this one (just trying to figure out why).  No Gamsol or any other mineral spirits or mediums were used at all.  Simply paint out of the tube and tiny bits of linseed oil.  The underpainting was linseed oil and ultramarine.

    Beautiful light and color Diane. I love hibiscus and have them growing in my garden. Now that the challenge has finished I might get to paint one!

    I love watching them come to life! I think what you like best about this painting is how you captured the light. Well, that and the fact that the challenge was nearly over!
