Pushing Paint
A treat painting this morning with the VAC Punta Gorda group, but only had half an hour before clouds moved in. Held onto the shadows and finished from imagination. Playing with thicker paint and pushing color. Thinking warm/cool, dark/light.

Really like the sense of reflected light on those beautifully composed tree trunks. Our local art center has a wonderful exhibit of Japanese art and the Western art influenced by the same. The composition of rhythmic tree trunks was originally created by Japanese artists. Thought you might be interested in that fact morsel!

Thanks, Katherine! Glad I held onto the shadows after the clouds moved in. Reference photos could not capture the colors or sense-of-place.
I just love the look and overall feel - must be the light! How you do this on location is fascinating and amazing to me. Wonderful!
Nothing takes place of painting outside... photos just don't show the light and colors. Also forces you to paint faster to keep up with changing conditions. And in this case, the clouds blocked the sun so had to use my visual memory banks. Thanks for you comment, Johnna!
