19 Rose and Ribbon

Diane Mannion, 19 Rose and Ribbon, 8x10" o/c
19th of the 30/30 Challenge.  I can paint a portrait or plein air landscape in under three hours.  This took twice that time and it's still not there.  Maybe, I'll rework it when the challenge is over... or leave it as a lesson learned.   But I really like the ribbon.

Blue and white pottery is an automatic winner for me, and your painting triples that factor! I love this.

I love the ribbon and the whole composition.I sure know the feeling of working on something too hard and too long. Been there. I am enjoying looking over the last few posts and seeing how sensitively you paint flowers.

I remember the challenge of painting a ribbon and a ring while in college. It's hard! The vase is awesome! The flower is lovely, and the ribbon is good...you captured it. When this challenge is over, I bet you won't want to see a flower for a long time!

Margaret... so nice to hear from a 30/30 artist in Scotland! Thank you for your comment.

Thank you, Clare. I need to try this vase again... had so much trouble with it, and the rose, ugh! Ribbon was easy!

Thank you so much, Anne. After looking at this for so many hours, I couldn't "see" it anymore. Still not happy with it.

Kathleen... Thanks for your compliment! I love painting flowers, even though they're not easy. The challenge is painting them in a way that hasn't been overdone. And for me not to overwork them.
