Weekly Challenge

Challenge 5
8" x 6"
oil

Sometimes, life events get in the way of painting.  My 2011 Self- Imposed Challenge was to post almost daily except for Sundays... well, I'll catch up eventually.   This weeks Challenge, presented by Carol Marine (http://www.dailypaintworks.com/Challenges) was to paint one stroke, change the color then paint the next stroke.  Not my favorite way of painting, but this is a learning experience.  To make my agony even worse, I counted every stroke... 210!  And did not allow myself to blend, put the stroke down and left it.  Really rough because I love to fiddle.  And on top of that... I only allowed myself to use number 6 bristle brushes which are a half inch wide.  Not any easy feat on a 6" x 8" canvas.  I'm not thrilled with this painting but I learned something about painting in a looser style and now have even more respect for artists, like Carol Marine who can.

I know you said you aren't thrilled with this painting, Diane, but I personally love it - the colors, design and style. It's one of my favorites in the challenge so far :).

I wanted to do this challenge, but I am not sure I'm up for it. Seems very daunting to me.
