One Two Buckle My Shoe

One Two Buckle My Shoe, 6x6" oil/panel, ©Diane Mannion

Snapshots

While taking photos of my family last week, some interesting figures appeared in the backgrounds.  I'll admit, it's one way I can take photos without being noticed too much... aim for my family and actually focus on the background figures.  This intimate moment of a Mennonite mom adjusting her sons sandal won my heart.

I've changed appearances to protect their privacy.  If I ask permission to photograph, it's not the same, I end up with toothy grins and stiff self-consciousness.  I prefer to work from spontaneous moments like this mom and her sons.

Worked on a warm tinted mid-value Jack Richeson Gessoed Hardboard Panel.  Drew the underpainting with red iron oxide.  Here's what the first stage looked like:

Day 2 of Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge.  Yikes.  Wish I could paint faster!

Found out that my painting, SEMINOLE TRADER was a Bold Brush FAV 15% Winner for November!   Whoot!

Thanks, Wendy! Sometimes, a snapshot comes in handy. Only wish I had noticed this little family sooner.
